Dr. John Johnson

John L. Johnson

(Jan. 14, 1949 - Oct. 23, 2020)

From the Pastor:

There are no words to describe the tremendous sense of loss that we feel today. We are weeping with those who are weeping, trying to get our heads around what has happened. Our hearts are breaking, yet we rejoice that Dr. Johnson is with the Savior he served and loved. His absence from us and presence with the Lord is being and will continue to be acutely felt. As a pastor, I feel as if I have lost an arm. Dr. John was always so encouraging, so loyal, so faithful, so helpful, so loving and kind. In the parlance of our society, he always had my back. There come no finer Christian gentlemen.

We ache for Becky and the girls as well as the whole Johnson and Cook clans. This one of those times when we can only cling to the promises of Him Who has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Let us continue to pray for the family.

If you died tonight, do you know you would go to heaven?
Q: WHO IS GOOD?
A: As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.
- Romans 3:10
Q: WHO HAS SINNED?
A: All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
- Romans 3:23
Q: WHAT IS SIN'S ORIGIN?
A: By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin.
- Romans 5:12
Q: WHAT IS THE PRICE OF SIN?
A: The wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life.
- Romans 6:23
Q: WHO LOVED SINNERS?
A: God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
- Romans 5:8
Q: HOW CAN I BE SAVED FROM THE GUILT AND PENALTY OF SIN?
A: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- Romans 10: 9, 13

It's not enough to have only a head knowlege of these things. As the Bible says in Romans 10:10, "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." You have to make an actual personal decision as to salvation based upon what's in your heart. Either you accept what the Bible says and accept Jesus as your personal Saviour, or else you've made a personal decision to reject him.

If you will bow your head right now and ask the Lord Jesus to save you from your sin, accepting what HE did on Calvary as your only means of salvation, He will save you. If you will do this, God promises you a home in heaven and you are saved for eternity.

If this has just happened to you, we at Faith Baptist Church would love to hear from you. Please give us a phone call, come visit us, or send us a message so that we can know of your wonderful experience and that we might rejoice with you.
